2013 Oracle Vineyard Pinot Noir
2013 Oracle Vineyard Pinot Noir
The 2013 blend includes 50% from our experimental seléction massale block, 33% 777 clone from our 2001 planted block, with the remaining coming from a variety of our favorite barrels in the cellar. With our 2001 densely-planted block old enough to express its terroir, Oracle is firmly entrenched in our winery. All lots were fermented with indigenous yeast in open-top 1,500-liter fermentors. This seventeen-barrel lot was aged in 33% new barrels, with the balance in neutral wood. The wine displays energetic berry fruits: red currant and wild raspberry (yes-we did actually taste some wild raspberries on a backpacking trip around Mt. Adams last August). After an indigenous malo-lactic fermentation, it was racked (by our twins!) with inert gas in August of 2014, and was bottled un-fined and unfiltered in late September of 2014 after eleven months in oak.
